We are excited to announce the hiring of Kat Burgett as our Interim Youth Ministry Associate. We are excited about this addition to our staff as Kat will help to coordinate our youth ministry during this interim period while we seek to fill the youth pastor position. Kat is scheduled to start August 28.
Kat is a candidate for ordination in our denomination under the care of Blacknall. She is finishing up her PhD dissertation this month at Duke University’s Graduate Program in Religion. She has been a part of Blacknall for the past 10 years and has experience in many areas of ministry, including doing youth ministry in South Africa for a year. She also teaches part time at Duke Divinity School, but you will recognize her as one of the lead singers on our worship team.
As we begin the process of hiring our next youth ministry team, we are asking for volunteers, parents, and the youth themselves to step up in giving leadership and taking responsibility for our ministry to youth. To do this well, we need help with coordination and communication. Kat will be working with Pastor David Dunderdale in helping to coordinate this team of folks. Please pray for Kat and for the Lord to assemble a great team of people to help disciple our young people in the way of Jesus.
