International Students, Inc. (ISI), a Blacknall Deep Common Journey partner, is looking for volunteers to drive new international students to Target, Li Ming's, and other nearby stores on Saturday, August 10 from 1 - 4 p.m.
This is an opportunity to bless the nations through a simple act of welcome and hospitality. Driving these newly-arrived international students will allow them to purchase the things they need — groceries, small household items, and electronics. Volunteers should plan to drive students back to their apartments or residences after shopping.
ISI staff will assign student(s) to you at the meeting location. We will have two locations to meet students, both close to campus: the apartments at Campus Walk (Campus Walk Ave.) or Lancaster Commons (Western Bypass). You will receive your assigned meeting location a week before the shopping trip.
The purpose of this ISI annual event is to serve the practical needs of students during the "settling-in" phase of their Duke University experience. ISI anticipates many new international students will request this assistance. Great friendships and exchanges have resulted from such simple gestures of hospitality!
